Instructions
Pattern pieces may be traced onto cardboard before starting.
RSO=right sides out • RST=right sides together • SA=seam allowance

Body

 

1. Trace 1 body, 2 arms, 2 legs, and 2 ears on double layer of Warm & Natural. Sew on traced lines. Leave open where pattern indicates. Cut out, leaving 1/4" SA. Clip curves.
2. Turn arms RSO. Stuff firmly to line indicated on pattern. Sew across line, leaving remaining arm unstuffed. Sew across opening. Repeat for other arm.
3. Turn legs RSO. Stuff firmly to line indicated on pattern. Sew across line, leaving remaining leg unstuffed. Sew across opening. Repeat for other leg.
4. Turn body RSO. Stuff firmly.
5. Pin legs to body with toes pointing slightly together to give a pigeon toed look. Sew across carefully.
6. Hot-glue arms to body where pattern indicates.
7. Turn ears RSO. Insert one 12" chenille stem into each ear. Cut off excess chenille stem sticking out of ears. Fold ear in half at opening and stitch closed. Hot-glue ears to top of head where indicated on pattern.
8. Sew 2 tiny black beads for eyes, hiding threads in back of head. Sew small triangle for nose and a short line down for mouth (hiding threads in the back of the head) with pink embroidery floss.
9. Blush cheeks with powdered blush.

 

Dress

 

1. Trace bodice on double fold of fabric and cut out. Cut up center back and clip neck opening.
2. Rip 1 skirt 4-1/2" x 18". Rip 1" x 18" fabric strip around skirt.
3. Cut one 1" x 18" or two 1/2" x 18" strips of Steam-A-Seam fusible web. Stick Steam-A-Seam to 1" x 18" fabric strip. Iron strip to skirt 1" from bottom edge of skirt (following fusible instructions).
4. Cut 4 small diamond shape patches with Steam-A-Seam on back side of fabric. Iron patches to skirt strip, leaving space between patches to glue or sew 3 small buttons.
5. With RST sew under arms and down sides of bodice.
6. Gather top edge of skirt to fit bodice. Sew skirt to bodice. Sew up back seam to 1/2" from neck opening. Turn RSO.
7. Turn sleeve edge up 3/4", hand gather with heavy thread 1/2" from bottom edge leaving threads long to gather later. Repeat for other sleeve.
8. Turn neck edge under 1/4". Hand gather around leaving threads long to gather later
9. Put dress on bunny. Pull threads at neck tightly knot and clip ends. Gather sleeve threads tightly knot threads and clip ends.

 

Pantaloons

 

1. Cut 2 pieces of fabric RST 6" x 10". Sew up 2 opposite 10" sides of pantaloons. Fold pantaloons in half. Measure up folded edge to 7" for crotch. Cut up to mark for legs. Lay back flat and sew around to make legs. Clip curves of crotch.
2. Turn RSO. Turn waist edge under 1/4" and hand gather. Leave threads long to tie up later.
3. Turn legs under 3/4", press with iron and gather 1/2" from leg edge.
4. Cut 2 small diamond shape patches with Steam-A-Seam on back side of fabric. Iron patch to each knee.
5. Place pantaloons on bunny. Gather up waist and legs tightly. Knot and clip threads.

 

Finishing Touches

 

1. Cut strip of wool fabric 1" x 14" for scarf. Tie scarf around neck. Clip to desired length. Make thin cuts to fray scarf ends. Cut 1 small diamond shape patch with Steam-A-Seam on back side of fabric. Iron patch to scarf. Tie threads through holes of a button and glue to center of patch on scarf.
2. Cut 1 piece of ribbed knit 4" x 10" for hat. Fold knit in half RST, sew 10" side. Hand gather one open end. Pull threads tight, knot and clip threads. Turn RSO. Turn bottom edge under 1-1/2" and then turn up 3/4" to cuff. Make small slit (about 1/2") in center front of hat to pull ears through (about 1" from cuffed edge of hat). Pull ears through slit. Spot glue hat to head. Glue 1/2" jingle bell to hat top. Tie threads through holes of small button. Glue to cuff of hat. Crumple ears.
3. Unravel piece of sisal rope for whiskers. Thread 3 to 5 strands through needle and stitch through cheeks. Clip ends of whiskers to desired length.
4. Glue small bird to one sleeve.
5. Decorate small bird house on a stick and attach it to one hand. Paint, snow paint, raffia bow and spanish moss.
6. Write "EVERY BIRDIE WELCOME" on 2" star painted yellow. Wrap 18 or 19 gage black wire around star and curl rest to make sign. To curl, wrap wire around 1/4" dowel stick to length desired. Clip ends to desired length. Wrap end of wire around bunny. Enjoy!
